Hebrews 5:12-14
12 In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! 13 Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. 14 But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.
1 Peter 2:2
2 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation,
- Both authors seem to be at variance with one another. One is stating that Christians should still crave pure spiritual milk and the other maintains that those who still occupy themselves with elementary truths are spiritually still infants. Is there a conflict of teaching or room for both opinions?
- Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 3:2, “I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready.” How might we be weaned? What do you understand as “solid food?”
